Our projects
First biodiversity bank in South America
The private nature reserve Rey Zamuro - Matarredonda carries the legacy of several generations, which under the sustainable use of natural resources today is recognized as a key point of conservation in the region and was the first biodiversity bank in South America.
Currently we have approximately 150 species of plants, 40 species of flying mammals (bats), 30 species of terrestrial mammals - medium and large, 76 species of amphibians and reptiles, 250 species of birds, more than 100 species of fish, and an infinity of insects, other arthropods and more invertebrates.
Working together with the community
For the last 6 years our partner Reselva has been operating in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, developing a methodology for restoring deforested areas while deforested areas while fostering the socio-economic transition of local communities towards sustainable agroforestry. Let us present to you our methodology, the impact we have achieved so far and we how intend to scale up our model to an increasing number of growing Colombian ecoregions and beyond. They have planted more than one million trees in the last 5 years.
Over the past 20 years, the various members of our team have carried out a variety of reforestation projects in different regions of Colombia. From planting native species in partnership with Hewlett Packard and Direct TV, to helping restore the Andean forest with a German NGO, to caring for the Don Diego river basin in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, we share a passion for restoring nature. By mixing different native species we try to cover the biodiversity, social and economical needs of each project, looking for a sustainable balance between the 3 mains pillars of sustainability.
At Terra Forest we believe in the power of partnerships and look forward to developing new and great projects in the different regions of Colombia with local and international partners.
